Gratitude turns what we have into enough.
- Christmas lights- being sick means I spend most of my time in my room, and I'm thankful that I can string lights all around my room and still be included in the holiday spirit even when my body doesn't want to be!
- Pets- no matter what kind of day you are having or have had, coming home to a furry loved one and seeing their tail wag so hard and be so excited to see you turns any day around! Not to mention how cute, cuddly, kissable, and loving they are.
- Beads of Courage- their program and the support the beads offer to kids/teens, like me, fighting serious illnesses.
- Water- I enjoy waterfalls, pools, sprinklers... etc. The way water looks, the way it feels, and the ripple effect of a drop in still water. Majority of the time when I need to relax or calm down, I search images of water. ☺
- Medications- As much as I hate my meds sometimes, lets face it, without them I wouldn't be alive today. I'm grateful there are medications that work for me, most of the time. I'm thankful to be able to stay home and out of the hospital longer because of these medicines.
- Doctors & Nurses- When I walk into a doctor's office and immediately feel like I'm hanging out with my friends, that's when I feel my best. I no longer feel distant, annoyed, or tired of them. Sometimes I'm laughing, sharing jokes, singing, dancing, or sharing cookies together. They care about all the little things personally (& medically too, of course). That's what makes a good doctor and/or nurse stand out. "We're in this fight together." ❤
- Netflix- When I have "painsomnia" (or insomnia due to high pain levels) I'm glad Netflix has seemingly never-ending episodes of my favorite shows to act as a distraction. Especially, when a brand new season of my favorite show comes out!
- Family- Whether it's immediate, extended, or maybe even people not "blood-related." Family is always there for each other. When I need help with certain things, or just need a shoulder to cry on, they're always here. They show love and support, & expect nothing in return.
- My wheelchair- Thankful I for my wheelchair as it gives me the ability to be able to leave my house more often and gives me the ability to go more places that I otherwise wouldn't be able to go, if I didn't have it!
- Pinterest- I have performed several DIY projects that I found on Pinterest. Everything I've tried has been helpful by acting as a distraction and whichever sense I needed it to be. From making weighted blankets, to helping me with my Art Therapy, providing relatable quotes/scriptures, and so much more!
- Music- I enjoy listening to music and especially songs with lyrics that I can relate to on a more personal level. Finding a song with special lyrics, mean even more and despite any type of mood I'm in, music can help me through it.
