Unless you have chronic illnesses yourself, you will never truly understand how different our lives are. The way our lives change from school to home school or home instruction, or worse, dropping out for a while and taking a break from school. The way our lives go from sports and extracurricular activities to doctors appointments and hospital admissions. The way we watch our friends and people in our lives leave, one by one, and get replaced with doctors and nurses. The mental and physical toll each health issue takes on our body. The way we feel, as if our lives are just passing us by and there’s nothing we can do to stop it or at the least, slow it down. Being able to do the simplest tasks, eating, walking, bathing, even thinking. These basic skills are affected and suddenly nothing ever becomes the same again.
Welcome to life with chronic illnesses.
