I know in my last post, I said I would update about my Pulmonary appointment last Monday. But the good & bad news, is there isn't much to update about. This is a good thing because that means that nothing has significantly changed and we're kind of still on the same path. Bad news is just that. That nothing has really changed and so I'm still struggling a little bit more than normal. However, the allergy levels and drastic weather changes are playing a huge role in this. Since I've been home from the hospital, I've been on such high doses of steroids that all my doctors are expecting me to be in much better shape than I am. My PFT levels are still down, lower than my normal, and it's frustrating. Seems like there isn't anything I can do to make them go back up, no matter how hard I try. During my appointment, we talked about some medications that aren't "FDA approved for asthma" but ideas that maybe there's an underlining issue that we can try to figure out. So there's a couple things that he wants to do, but our first step is a Care Conference. Getting all of my specialists in the same room and going over what each doctor thinks the next step needs to be from their specialty and then agreeing on my next treatment plan, and deciding what my next step is going to be, overall, and for each department. Then making sure that each plan doesn't interfere with any other illness, treatment plans, etc.. and figuring a way out. Since there's many different specialists that will be involved in my meeting, it will take a couple weeks before my appointment will happen. So I'll update more as that comes along.
On a brighter note of things (and I mean thrilling, spectacular, super exciting, ecstatic, "I can't freaking wait" kind of thing ☺) My parents, my sister, and I are all going on a little family vacation, unfortunately minus my brother, to Gettysburg, PA. My dad and I love American History and he has been wanting to go for years now (I went once back in 8th grade.) Our little trip is finally happening. The most exciting part, for me, is my lives about an hour from there! We will travel out there Friday, Oct. 17th and come home Sunday, Oct. 19th. I am spending Friday & Saturday with Charlotte before I go back to my family to leave on Sunday. Being 402 miles (exactly) from my best friend doesn't seem so bad, but it feels equivalent to being halfway around the world sometimes. I'm so glad I can finally hug her again and spend time with her. We both have been having a really rough time lately so this visit is exactly what we need. ♥ B F F
