As I sit here in this hospital bed, I keep trying to rewire my brain into trying to think of all the positive things, as being this ill and confined to a bed so frequently, tends to often drag my spirits down. Just like the classic saying goes, "Turn that frown upside down!" The more I got to pondering this whole idea, the more I realized, there are several perks to growing up in a hospital. Granted, sometimes you may have to look ha
rder th an other times, but just keep looking, you will find them. 1. Heated Blankets.
I think I could repeat this one over and over. NEVER underestimate the power of hospital's heated blankets. They are snuggly, warm, comfortable, warm, and did I mention warm? When you're desperate for some comfort, they're the perfect go-to.
2. Nurse Call Button.
Need I go any further? If I don't feel well or need some more medications *push call button* and it will be brought to my room, no need to stress out. When I'm too lazy to get up and plug my phone charger in, *push call button*. When I want something to drink, I don't have to get up and get it myself. I just ring my nurse and ask him/her to grab a drink for me and eventually, in comes my drink. (Which brings me to #3.)
3. Room Service.
This is probably my favorite. Do you know how many times I succumbed to the unrelenting steroid hunger pains because I was either unable or too lazy to get up and fix myself a meal? Well that is no more! All you have to do is dial the cafeteria, place your order from anything on their menu, and they send somebody to bring it to you. You don't have to leave the comfort of your not-so-comfortable hospital bed to do anything!
4. It's lazy day, everyday!
Scratch that, this one is my favorite. (They all are, to a certain extent.) No more feeling guilty when it's 3:00pm and you never changed out of your pj's. You don't want to brush your hair? That's fine. Want to stay in the same pair of leggings and t-shirt that you had on yesterday? No judgement here. Everyday is lazy day and the best part, is almost everyone else is joining alongside you!
